Problems

Unfortunately not everything runs smooth in counselling..

Working closely with each other, the capacity for misunderstanding and hurt is high, and discussing intimate personal material means that the risk of hurt is high too.

Obviously counselling training covers situations like this , but I also know that some of the most therapeutic work I ve done concerns recovering a relationship where hurt has happened. However, that has been from the bravery and openness of my clients , and it is entirely their choice.

The first step for me is to let you know what you can do if you are unhappy with any aspect of my service-

Firstly, if you feel able to let me know directly I d be very glad – you can do this by message ( email or text) or directly in one of our sessions.

I d hope to respond by listening to your concerns and offering any clarifications or apologies which seemed relevant. We would then decide how to proceed but that would only be if you felt satisfied with my response.

If you dont feel able to raise something directly with me,or are dissatisfied with my response, COSCA ( Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies), which is my professional organisation, has a complaints procedure you can follow about its members which I would be happy for you to use.
